Void Sale cancels a Sale (Type 02) or Prior-Authorized Sale (Type 07) transaction.

If a transaction is voided, it will not appear on the cardholder statement. When a Void transaction is initiated, Fusebox searches for:

- Reference Number (Field 0007) 
- Token (Unique ID) or Account Number (Field 0003) 
- Transaction Amount (Field 0002)

Elavon Gateway Terminal ID (Field 0109) provided in the request message:

- If a matching record is found:
 - Transaction type is changed from Sale or Prior-Authorized Sale to Void Sale.
 - System returns an error message.

**Host capture:** System performs a real-time transaction and communicates with the TPP only if the TPP Interface methodology is supported.

**Terminal capture:** In this scenario, Fusebox does not communicate with TPP in real-time.

Void Sale automatically attempts a Full Authorization Reversal (Type 61) if the TPP supports this transaction type. Full Authorization Reversal removes the hold placed on the cardholder account, which may immediately increase the open-to-buy.

The Gateway Response Text (Field 1010) shows whether the transaction was successful or complete.

Void Sale does not require the cardholder account number because the Elavon token or unique ID is tracked from the original authorization.
