Elavon's eBoarding Partner API provides partners the ability to board new merchants to Elavon, which enables those merchants to accept payments online or in person. Our API automates the merchant underwriting process and reduces the time between signing a contract and processing transactions to as little as 15 minutes.

We offer 2 integration methods:
 
- **Managed (stateful) flow** provides free and easy to use eSignature functionality and agreement generation in HTML and PDF formats.

- **Unassisted (stateless) flow** provides more flexibility to control the user experience and is available to partners that have their own document eSignature capability. 

Depending on your existing UI and document signing capabilities, you and your Elavon Relationship Manager/Solutions Engineer can determine which method works best for boarding your customers.

## Workflow

1. A merchant fills out a boarding application using the partner's UI.
2. The partner's UI connects to Elavon’s eBoarding Partner API.
3. Elavon eBoarding runs a credit check and evaluates the application.
4. If the application is approved, then the merchant will be eligible for payment processing services via point of sale terminals, mobile software, and/or online payment transactions.

## Example use cases for partners

### Managed (stateful) flow
You already have a user interface (UI) for collecting new merchant data and preferred payment processing methods (point-of-sale equipment, e-commerce, etc.). You will utilize Elavon APIs to generate the merchant agreement, collect e-signatures, generate the signed agreement, then board the data and upload the signed application.  

### Unassisted (stateless) flow
You already have a user interface (UI) for collecting new merchant data and preferred payment processing methods (point-of-sale equipment, e-commerce, etc.), and you have software that can collect esignatures and create signed PDFs. You will use Elavon APIs to retrieve the unsigned HTML or PDF agreement, board the data, and upload the signed application. 

### eBoarding UI (SAT) flow
You do not have your own team of software developers and instead want to use Elavon's web-based tools to submit merchant applications. In this case, contact an Elavon representative.

## Getting Started 

### Step 1: Get credentials
If you've already spoken with an Elavon representative and have an assigned Elavon Relationship Manager/Solutions Engineer, contact them to request an account and credentials.

### Step 2: Select an integration method

You can choose to integrate using either Managed (stateful) flow or Unassisted (stateless) flow. To learn more, go to :magic-link[Integration by flow type]{id="integration-by-flow-type"}. Your Elavon Relationship Manager/Solutions Engineer can help you choose the flow that will work best for you. 

### Step 3: Test and certify your integration

Use the user acceptance test environment (```https://uat-buynow-na.elavon.net/api/```) to run acceptance tests and resolve errors so that your applications board as expected.

### Step 4: Go live

When your application passes all acceptance tests, you will receive production credentials and move to the production environment (```https://buynow.elavon.net/api/```).
