Scrolling Receipt Request Message (Tran Type 36-10)

Simplify supports a Scrolling Receipt Request Message from the POS process.

The POS system can send Simplify a Scrolling Receipt Request Message. The PIN pad responds by displaying the data sent in this request.

Scrolling Receipt Request Message

The Scrolling Receipt Request Message is a Non-Financial message (Transaction Type 36), with a format as described below.

API Field #, Value Description
0001,36 Transaction Type 36. Non-Financial message
0011,xxx.. Field 11 is defined as User Data. See Appendix F for the use of this field
5001,xxx.. Non-Financial Data
This field can be included in the Scrolling Receipt Request message. It allows the POS system to send up to 2 lines of text to be displayed on the screen (in addition to the "canned" text on the screen)
The format of this field is TTTLLLVVV…VV, where:
    TTT is a Tag
LLL is the length of the data
VVV..VV is the data to be displayed
TTT - Currently defined tags for Message Type 10 are:
001 – The data describing the item just scanned
002 – The running total of the price of all items, to be displayed on the bottom of the screen.
If tags other than 001 and 002 are sent, they will be ignored.
VVV..VV - This field should contain data formatted for the desired display output. The maximum length will depend on the platform. If a PIN pad model supports less lines than defined by this field, the excess lines will be ignored.

Note: Data sent in the Scrolling Receipt Request Message will be displayed until a Scrolling Receipt Stop Message (36-11) is received by the PINpad. After the PINpad receives a Scrolling Receipt Request Message, no other message type can be processed until after a Scrolling Receipt Stop Message has been received.
