Versioning

Each release of the Simplify application has an official Version number (described just below) compliant with PCI P2PE versioning requirements, and a more user-friendly Release number (explained at the end of this section) derived from the official version and used in Simplify customer-facing documentation and communications.

Official Version Number

The official Simplify versioning scheme (from 2.02.021 on) includes a two-part prefix (S-PP below) indicating: (1) whether Simplify is operating as part of a PCI P2PE-validated solution, and (2) the encryption type. The prefix for a validated solution using On-Guard is V-OG. Versions with any other prefix are non-validated.

The Simplify versioning implemented is as follows:

S-PP-X.YY.ABBCC, where:

ElementData TypeDescription
SAlphabeticElavon enterprise implementation type (PCI P2PE-validated solution indicator)
  • V = validated
  • Missing or any other value = non-validated
PPAlphabeticEncryption type used by application:
  • OG = On-Guard
  • G2 = Voltage
XNumericMajor Version
Example: X was incremented to 2 when EMV support was added.
YYNumericMinor Version. Changes that affect architecture or security.
ABBCCNumericBuild release
  • A
    • 0-4: Only used for On-Guard implementations.
    • 5-9: Only used for Voltage implementations.
    • See further under CC.
  • BB
    • Feature changes that do not affect architecture or security.
  • CC
    • Sequential build number for HEM/IngEstate control. No impact on functionality. For bug fixes or adjustments. Note also:
      • For On-Guard builds above 99: A = the first digit of the build number. (E.g. 2.02.02799 for build 99 is followed by 2.02.12700 for build 100.)
      • For Voltage builds: A = 5 + the first digit of the build number.

The Simplify version number does not affect the EMV level. A separate internal EMV version is used for purposes of EMV certification:

  • EMVX.YY

Any time there is a change in the EMV interface or functionality, the EMV version will be updated.

The official Simplify version number is displayed during boot up and on an Informational Screen that can be briefly displayed by pressing 0 when the terminal is in the closed state. (To lengthen the display, press the + or – key.) If the second part of the prefix of the version number is OG (indicating On-Guard encryption), this will serve as an indicator that SRED is activated in the terminal.

Release Number

To avoid confusion (e.g. when going from the official Version 2.02.02799 to 2.02.12700), the above scheme has been modified to generate a Release number used in Simplify customer-facing documentation and communications. This number takes the form x.yy.bbb.acc, and is related to the official version number as follows:

ElementDescriptionRelation to Official Version
xMajor VersionSame as X.
yyMinor VersionSame as YY.
bbbFeature LevelPadded BB.
accBuild NumberSame as ACC.

E.g. the Release number for Version 2.02.12700 is 2.02.027.100.

note

  • The Simplify Release number is displayed in the Release field on the Simplify Informational Screen.
  • For convenience, Simplify is sometimes referred to as “Version BB”; for example, all builds of the form Version 2.02.A27CC / Release 2.02.027.acc will be referred to as “Version 27”.
  • “Version 27” (for example) will also be referred to as Version 2.02.027.
  • Simplify documentation has been updated through the build number included in the filename. E.g. Simplify Ingenico Developer and Download Configuration Troubleshooting Guides 2.02.027.100.docx has been updated through Version 27 build 100 (same application build as Versions 24 to 26 build 100).
