iSC250

To configure the iSC250 card reader for IP connectivity, you will need the following items:

  • Magic Box
  • Ethernet Cable
  • Card Reader
  • Power Cord
  • Account for processing against Converge

To configure the iSC250 card reader for IP connectivity, complete the following steps:

For USB connectivity, refer to Configure iSC250 for USB Connectivity.

For the payment flow for credit card, refer to US Common Debit Screen Flow - Credit.

For the payment flow for debit card, refer to US Common Debit Screen Flow - Debit.

Connect the Card Reader Peripherals

  1. Plug the Ethernet cable into the iSC Magic Box.

  2. Plug the power adapter into the iSC Magic Box.

  3. Plug the iSC Magic Box Ethernet connector into the back of the iSC250 card reader.

  4. Push down the latch.

Configure the Card Reader to Communicate via IP

  1. Unplug then replug the power source to restart the device.

    The device will display a few different screens as it boots up.

  2. When the Retail Base screen appears, quickly press 2, 6, 3, 4 and the Green (Enter) button to go to the menu settings.

    note

    Failing to enter the code in a timely manner will prevent access to the Telium Manager configuration application. If this should occur, repeat steps 1 - 2.

  3. Press the + button.

  4. In the main menu screen, tap the TDA option.

    note

    If you accidentally select the incorrect menu item, press the Yellow (Clear) or Red (Cancel) button to return to the main menu screen.

  5. Select 0 - Configuration by pressing 0 on the keypad.

    Alternatively, you can move the selection up or down by pressing the + or - button.

  6. Press the Green (Enter) button.

  7. Select 0 - Communication by pressing 0 on the keypad.

  8. Press the Green (Enter) button.

  9. Select 0 - Select Comm. Type by pressing 0 on the keypad.

  10. Press the Green (Enter) button.

  11. Select 2 - Ethernet by pressing 2 on the keypad.

  12. Press the Green (Enter) button.

You now enabled your device to use IP.

Configure the IP Parameters

  1. Press the Red (Cancel) button twice to return to the Configuration menu.

  2. Select 0 - Communication by pressing 0 on the keypad.

  4. Select 2 - Ethernet Settings by pressing 2 on the keypad.

  5. Press the Green (Enter) button.

  6. Select 0 - Connection Method by pressing 0 on the keypad.

  7. Press the Green (Enter) button.

  8. Select 1 - Server by pressing 1 on the keypad.

  9. Press the Green (Enter) button.

  10. Press the Red (Cancel) button once to return to the Ethernet menu.

  11. Select 1 - DHCP by pressing 1 on the keypad.

  12. Press the Green (Enter) button.

  13. Select 0 - Auto by pressing 0 on the keypad.

  14. Press the Green (Enter) button.

  15. Press the Red (Cancel) button once to return to the Ethernet menu.

  16. Select 9 - IP Port by pressing 9 on the keypad.

  17. Press the Green (Enter) button.

  18. Determine if the IP Port is set to 12000.

    If not equal to 12000, press 1, 2, 0, 0, and 0 on the keypad.

    If you prefer a different IP port number, enter a value between 1024 and 65536.

  19. Press the Green (Enter) button.

You now configured the IP parameters of the device.

Get the Assigned IP Address

  1. Press the Red (Cancel) button repeatedly until the Save and Reboot? screen appears.

  2. Select 1 - Yes by pressing 1 on the keypad.

  3. Press the Green (Enter) button.

  4. After the device reboots, press the Red (Cancel) button once to move to the bottom of the screen.

  5. Take note of the IP address assigned to the card reader. This is the IP address to use when initializing Commerce SDK.

    iSC RBA IP Address

    If the IP address is 0.0.0.0, check the current Ethernet port or try a different Ethernet port.

Enable SSL on the Card Reader

  1. Upon initialization, Commerce SDK will update the card reader with the required device files. HOW WILL CSDK INITIALIZE?. The card reader reboots.

  2. Unplug then replug the power source to restart the device.

    Alternatively, press and hold the Yellow and # keys.

    Several screens appear as the device boots up.

  3. When the Retail Base screen appears, quickly press 2, 6, 3, 4 and the Green (Enter) button to go to the menu settings.

  4. Press the + button.

  15. Select 1 - Yes by pressing 1 on the keypad.

  16. Press the Green (Enter) button.

    You now confiigured the device for SSL IP connections.

  17. Press the Red (Cancel) button repeatedly until the Save and Reboot? screen appears.

  18. Select 1 - Yes by pressing 1 on the keypad.

  19. Press the Green (Enter) button.

Configure iSC250 for USB Connectivity

  1. Unplug then replug the power source to restart the device.

  2. During the reboot process, look out for the Copyright  screen.

  3. When the Copyright  screen appears, quickly press the 2, 6, 3, 4 and the Green (Enter) buttons.

    note

    You will need to complete this step within 2 seconds.

  4. Press the F button.

  5. In the main menu screen, select 3 - TDA by pressing 3 on the keypad.

  6. Select 0 - Configuration by pressing 0 on the keypad.

    Alternatively, you can move the selection up or down by pressing the F2 or F3 button.

  7. Press the Green (Enter) button.

  8. Select 0 - Communication by pressing 0 on the keypad.

  9. Press the Green (Enter) button.

  10. Select 3 - USB < > Serial by pressing 3 on the keypad.

  11. Press the Green (Enter) button.

  12. Press the Red (Cancel) button repeatedly until the Save and Reboot? screen appears.

  13. Select 1 - Yes by pressing 1 on the keypad.

  14. Press the Green (Enter) button.

    The device will restart so that the settings will take effect.

US Common Debit Screen Flow - Credit

  1. Card reader is ready for payment when the Welcome screen appears.

  2. Start a transaction.

  3. Card reader displays the Insert, Swipe or Tap Card screen.

  4. Insert a US debit card (MasterCard, Visa or Discover).

  5. Card reader displays the Select application screen for MasterCard or Visa.

    note

    For Discover, a screen prompt is not displayed.

  6. Select the first option.

  7. Press the Green (Enter) button.

  8. Card reader displays Confirm app:(Option Selected in Step 6) screen.

  9. Press the Green (Enter) button.

  10. Card reader displays Amount OK? (Transaction Amount) screen.

  11. Press the Green (Enter) button.

  12. Card reader displays Approved/Declined Transaction - Please Remove Card screen.

    If the transaction is approved, prompt for signature capture appears on the integrator’s application.

    note

    Draw signature on pinpad with attached stylus and tap OK.

US Common Debit Screen Flow - Debit

  1. Card reader is ready for payment when the Welcome screen appears.

  2. Start a transaction.

  3. Card reader displays the Insert, Swipe or Tap Card screen.

  4. Insert a US debit card (MasterCard, Visa or Discover).

  5. Card reader displays the Select application screen for MasterCard or Visa.

    note

    For Discover, a screen prompt is not displayed.

  6. Select the second option for Maestro or US Debit (Visa).

  7. Press the Green (Enter) button.

  8. Card reader displays Confirm app:(Option Selected in Step 6) screen.

  9. Press the Green (Enter) button.

  10. Card reader displays Amount OK? (Transaction Amount) screen.

  11. Press the Green (Enter) button.

  12. Enter a PIN.

    To bypass PIN entry, skip this step and proceed to step 13.

  13. Press the Green (Enter) button.

  14. Card reader displays Approved/Declined Transaction - Please Remove Card screen.
