Windows and Bluetooth Compatibility
There are many Windows-based laptops, tablets, and desktop systems each having varying levels of support for the Bluetooth protocol. Below is a list of a few environments in which Bluetooth communications with the iCMP device have been tested:
Environment | Notes |
---|---|
ASUS USB-BT400 | Without Issues |
Belkin Bluetooth USB Adapter F8T012 | Without Issues |
Surface Pro (2017 model 1796) | The most recent driver at the time of this publication (Marvell Avastar Bluetooth v15.68.9120.47) is unsupported due to frequent random disconnects and other issues seen in our testing. Future driver updates from Marvell may or may not improve the performance. In the meantime, there are two alternatives: - Use an external Bluetooth USB adapter (such as those listed above) - Use the built-in generic Microsoft Windows Bluetooth driver |
important
If you are pairing your Windows device with an iCMP over Bluetooth, do not connect the iCMP to the Windows device using a USB cable. There is a known issue that occurs while trying to establish a wireless connection to a USB-connected iCMP (in USB mode). In this scenario, Commerce SDK will wait several seconds for a connection to be established until it finally times out.
Pre-requisites
- If your Windows device does not have a Bluetooth adapter, you will need to purchase one. Follow the instructions that come with the adapter to install the Bluetooth drivers and other necessary files.
- Verify that Bluetooth is currently enabled on your Windows device.
Pair the Devices
On the Windows device, complete the following:
- Open Control Panel and go to Devices and Printers (Windows 7 or 8) or Hardware and Sound (Windows 10).
- Click Add a Device.
- Click iCM122 (with additional numbers) from the devices list and click Next.
- Enter the iCMP PIN code and click OK.
On Ingenico iCMP, confirm that the Welcome screen appears.
On the Windows device, confirm that Ingenico iCMP appears in the Devices and Printers (Windows 7 or 8) or Hardware and Sound (Windows 10) list.
Pairing of the Windows device and Ingenico iCMP is now complete. This will enable Commerce SDK to communicate with Ingenico iCMP through the established Bluetooth connection.
