Auto Signature

On this page:

When Simplify receives a Signature Request from the POS, it prompts for a signature and returns a Signature Response (see Signature Message). Auto Signature allows Simplify to perform signature processing without a request.

important

If Auto Signature is supported, all Stand-in responses must be approved by the POS, as signature processing will occur regardless of the POS decision.

Eligible Transactions

  • Approved Sale, Auth Only, Return.
  • Touchscreen PIN Pads.

Controlling Auto Signature

Auto Signature depends on configuration, but this can be overriden (for eligible transactions) from the POS:

  • Configuration – Simplify performs auto signature if the amount satisfies a configured minimum (defined independently for each combination of supported transaction type and tender type; 0 = disable).

  • POS message – Field 11 bytes 4-5 in the financial request can force or suppress an auto signature for the transaction. The use of this field must be enabled (defined independently for each combination of supported transaction type and tender type).

    • S1 - Force auto signature,.
    • S0 - Suppress auto signature.
    • Blanks (“ “) - Configuration controls signature processing.

POS Notification

Field 5001 bytes 1-8 in the financial response reflects (for eligible transactions) whether Simplify is performing auto signature processing:

  • 991002S0 = Simplify will not prompt for signature. It is in Closed state
  • 991002S1 = Simplify is asking for signature. POS should wait for Signature Response.

Additional Configuration

  • Signature prompt can occur before or after the prompt to remove EMV card.
  • Prompt text can be customized. Up to three lines of text are allowed, with a maximum length of 40 characters each. Contact your Elavon reprsentative for more information.
